Simplicity Cremations Prepaid Funeral Plans

What is a funeral plan?

A Funeral Plan is a way to pre-arrange the funeral you want and pay funeral costs in advance to reduce the financial burden on your loved ones and relieves them from having to make many of the difficult decisions about your final send off. Over and above the peace of mind that a funeral plan gives, a real benefit of a plan is that you can effectively freeze the cost of the services you have chosen to include, meaning these costs will be protected from any future price increases.

What does a Simplicity Cremations Funeral Plan include?

A Simplicity Cremations Prepaid Funeral Plan covers the essential elements for a simple funeral including cremation fees, a simple wood effect coffin, collection from the place of rest 24 hours a day in our specialised vehicles, care at our mortuaries, and the return of your ashes. For more information, take a look at our choice of Prepaid Funeral Plans.

What does a Simplicity Cremations Funeral Plan not include?

- Any Doctor’s fees & Coroner’s fees.
- Embalming, memorial or headstone, flowers, catering/wake
- Viewing of the deceased / chapel visits
- Dressing the deceased in their own clothing or placing personal effects in the coffin
- A hearse
- Limousine for family/mourners

- Repatriation from outside mainland Great Britain
- Costs for removing artificial limbs and mechanisms such as pacemakers

- Co-ordination of any flowers or tributes and managing collection and payments of any charitable donations (although your family can organise this if the Orchid Plan is selected)

Prepaid Funeral Plan Terms & Conditions

Will my money be safe?

The money you pay for your prepaid funeral plan goes into The UK Funerals (2022) Trust, where the funds required for your funeral are held securely and managed carefully so that the services in your plan are covered. We guarantee to cover the cost of the services included in the plan, so your family won’t have anything further to pay for these services.

How will regulation affect other Funeral Plans?

All companies that wish to continue selling or carrying out funerals using funds from pre-purchased plans need to have successfully applied to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) by 29th July 2022 – you can see on the FCA website which companies are applying, their authorisation status and read guidance about what this means for you: https://www.fca.org.uk/consumers/funeral-plans/providers-list.

My funeral wishes are included in my will, why do I need a prepaid funeral plan?

Wills are often left unread until after the funeral so it can be difficult to ensure your wishes for your funeral arrangements are met

I have savings and life insurance, will this not cover the costs of my funeral?

Life insurance and savings are a popular way for people to put money aside for their funeral costs. Either option would ensure there is a sum of money available to your loved ones when you pass away which could be used towards your funeral arrangements. This sum of money may or may not cover your full funeral costs at the time.

A funeral plan works slightly differently as its purpose is to freeze the cost of your chosen funeral package today so that when the time comes, we guarantee the cost of the services included in your plan are covered irrespective of whether costs have risen in the meantime.

You would need to decide which product better suits your needs and this pack should provide you with all the information you need on the Simplicity Funeral Plan.

What happens if funeral costs rise in future?

A funeral plan is designed to cover the costs of your chosen funeral package even if prices go up in future. So, you can be sure there will be no ‘hidden costs’ further down the line for the services covered by your plan.

I like the sound of a Simplicity Cremation, but I’m not ready to commit to a prepaid funeral plan, how can I share my wishes?

If you’re thinking about a Simplicity Cremation for yourself, but you’re not ready to buy a funeral plan yet, our share your wishes form might be for you.

What happens to my plan if you go out of business?

The money you pay for your prepaid funeral plan goes into The UK Funerals (2022) Trust, where the funds required for your funeral are held securely and managed carefully so that the services in your plan are covered. We guarantee to cover the cost of the services included in the plan, so your family won’t have anything further to pay for these services.

However, in the unlikely event of funeral plan provider failure we will take reasonable measures to ensure that your funeral plan will continue to be carried out by another funeral plan provider. In the event your funeral plan will not continue to be carried out by us or another funeral plan provider, the money paid under the plan will be refunded as soon as possible.

Can I see the Terms and Conditions of the Funeral Plan?

Where will the funeral take place?

At the time of need we will collect the deceased from anywhere within Great Britain and transport them into our care local to their resting place, at any time, 24 hours a day.

The cremation will then take place at a CMG crematorium, selected by us, local to the place of rest.

To see where your nearest CMG crematorium is, please use our crematorium finder

Why should I take out a funeral plan?

Taking out a Prepaid Funeral Plan allows you to make important decisions about what you and your family want from the funeral. Once it’s paid, we will not request a penny more for the services included in the Plan, so you’ll have complete peace of mind, knowing you have prepared financially.

Taking out a Funeral Plan will also help save your loved ones the worry and stress of making all the funeral arrangements at such an emotional time because they will already know what you wanted and an expert funeral arranger will be there to guide and support them every step of the way.

How do I pay online?

It’s easy to arrange your Prepaid Funeral Plan online and we use the latest security technology to protect your payments. If you choose to make a single payment, you can use either a credit or debit card. Alternatively, you can take advantage of one of our flexible payment options by setting up a Direct Debit.

Do I have to pay all at once?

No, we offer a range of flexible payment options so you can choose to pay for your funeral plan in the most convenient way for you, whether that be a single payment, over 12 months at no extra cost or over up to 60 monthly instalments.

Please note in order to pay in monthly instalments over 13 months or more, you must meet our instalment age restriction. Please see our Prepaid Funeral Plan Terms & Conditions for more information.

If I choose to pay by instalments, what options are there?

You can spread the cost of your Funeral Plan over 12 months, at no extra cost.

Longer fixed terms are also available provided that all payments over any term longer than 12 months are completed by the 85th birthday of the person named on the plan and the instalment term does not exceed the maximum term available.

Plans purchased over a period greater than 12 months will incur an additional fee. This charge is needed to make sure the money paid into the Trust Fund can increase in line with Inflation during the term of the Plan and means that we can still provide the guaranteed services in the Agreement, irrespective of when the Funeral Plan is required.

Can I take out a funeral plan on another person’s behalf?

Yes, many of our customers take out a Funeral Plan for their partner, parent or someone else close to them. As long as the person for whom the plan is intended is aged 18 or over, you can take out a Prepaid Funeral Plan on their behalf.

What happens once I’ve applied for a Prepaid Funeral Plan from Simplicity?

If you purchase online you will receive confirmation straight away, your Funeral Plan will be processed and you’ll receive a Customer Pack in the post within 5 days. You’ll find all the details of your Funeral Plan inside, including instructions about how to implement the Plan and of course, our contact details. We’ll also include a Nominated Representative pack to your Nominated Representative.

Cancelling and changing a Prepaid Funeral Plan

What happens if I move house?

Simplicity Prepaid Plans are available throughout mainland Great Britain. If you move house, contact us and we can update our records.

Are there any cancellation charges?

Provided we receive such notification within 30 days of entering into the Agreement, we will refund all the money you have paid within 14 days of us receiving notification of cancellation.

If you wish to cancel the Plan at any time after the stated 30 day Cancellation Period, we will refund all money you have paid, less a cancellation fee of £95, within 14 days of us receiving such notification of cancellation. In the event that the Plan is not used and cancellation is requested after the death of the Planholder we may require additional information from the person cancelling the Plan before we can complete the cancellation.

What happens if the plan is not paid in full at the time of death?

Normally the plan will only cover the relevant services once the plan has been paid in full. However, with the Simplicity Promise if the plan is payable by 13 monthly payments or more, and provided at the time of death all payments due under the plan are up to date, then:

• the plan will cover the relevant services in the event of the covered individual’s accidental death during the first 12 months of the plan; and

• the plan will cover the relevant services if the covered individual dies more than 12 months after the plan begins.

If one of the conditions above applies but the payments are not up to date, then we can still provide the services, as long as the missed payments are paid to us in full before the funeral is due to take place.
