Our Intimate Funeral provides a cremation with a short simple service, for a small group of family and friends to attend. This allows for a few minutes of private reflection and the chance to say goodbye at the Crematorium. This simple cremation costs significantly less than a traditional funeral. It gives you the chance to arrange a dignified and respectful funeral now - allowing you the opportunity to hold a memorial with a larger attendance at a later date so you can commemorate your loved one's life in a way that suits you and your family.
We know organising a funeral is something most people will be unfamiliar with, so all it takes is one phone call to start the process. Our teams are available to help 24 hours a day, so there's always someone here to answer any questions you may have.
- Your loved one will be collected from their place of rest a few days prior to the funeral and cared for in our high-quality mortuary facilities
- A Simplicity representative will contact you to help complete the necessary forms and paperwork to allow the cremation to go ahead
- Once we have received the relevant paperwork, we will be in touch to arrange the date and location of the cremation and discuss any music requests
- Your loved one will be taken directly to the crematorium on the day of the cremation in a specialised funeral vehicle and placed in the chapel before the attendees arrive
- You will be welcomed inside by a crematorium assistant where your music of your choice will be played
- You will then have a few minutes for private reflection and the chance to share a final few moments to say goodbye.

If you would like to plan ahead and arrange this type of funeral for yourself or a loved one for the future, the Magnolia Plan is a basic funeral plan that covers everything you will need for a small funeral for up to 12 people to attend.
Our Intimate Funeral costs from just £1,395 and includes doctor's fees, cremation fees, provision of a simple wood effect coffin^, preparation for cremation in our quality mortuary facilities and transportation in a specialised funeral vehicle.

Intimate Funeral - What's included
The funeral will take place at 9am on an available date that you choose (Tuesday - Friday only), at a CMG crematorium local to the place of rest. Our telephone based funeral arrangers will help you organise the date and location of the funeral.
A dedicated Simplicity Account Manager will be on hand throughout the entire process. They can help you with any decisions for the day and even arrange a crematorium visit should you wish to meet the chapel attendant in person beforehand.
Provision of a simple and respectful dark wood effect coffin with linings and fittings^
You will have freedom to sit and reflect or say a few words in the chapel on the day. Our arrangers can assist you with choosing any music you’d like to play.
Ashes will be hand delivered in a simple container at a mutually agreed time Monday to Friday, AM (9am – 1pm) or PM (1pm – 5pm). This service is only available within mainland Great Britain. Ashes will be returned within 4 weeks after the cremation has taken place.

*We will usually bring your loved one into care a few days prior to cremation. Should they need to be collected straight away, an additional charge of £250 will be incurred to cover care in our quality mortuary facilities until the day of cremation.
^Please let us know if your loved one is heavier than 20 stone or taller than 6’7”, so we can provide a suitable coffin.

In which areas is an Intimate Funeral available?
An Intimate Funeral is available throughout the whole of mainland Great Britain including Scotland (this excludes Northern Ireland, Scottish Isles, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands).
What if I want more than 12 people to attend the funeral?
If you would like more than 12 people to attend the funeral, our Family Led Funeral may be more suitable for your needs.
Our Family Led Funeral provides a full-length slot in the crematoriums chapel, where you can arrange a family-led funeral service for a larger number of mourners. You’ll be able to arrange a funeral service with music, readings, eulogies and the presence of a minister or officiant to lead the service, similar to a service that may accompany a more traditional funeral. At the time of arrangement, our team will be able to advise you of the total seating capacity at the chosen crematorium.
What happens at the crematorium on the day of the funeral?
Upon your arrival at the crematorium, your loved one’s coffin will be resting on the catafalque in the chapel. You will be welcomed into the chapel by a crematorium assistant where a piece of music of your choice can be played. You will then have a short time for private reflection and the chance to share a final few moments to say goodbye. The Intimate funeral does not involve any type of formal service or ceremony.
