A Family Led Funeral closely resembles what people may expect from a traditional funeral, but without the often unwanted and unnecessary ceremonial excess or need for a traditional Funeral Director.
A Family Led Funeral is organised over the phone by our funeral arrangers who will be on hand to help you make the necessary arrangements, from the music you'd like to suggesting a local minister or officiant. This offers you the freedom to plan a ceremony in the crematorium chapel in the same way you would with a traditional funeral - just without the face-to-face services of a Funeral Director.
With the ceremony organised carefully by you, we'll focus on the practical elements of the cremation including the collection and care of your loved one and their transportation to the crematorium on the day of the funeral. We simply remove the need for a procession with hearses and limousines prior to the service. Your loved one will be resting in the chapel prior to your arrival so you can focus on leading a fitting ceremony and saying goodbye in the way you best feel commemorates their life.
- Your loved one will be collected from their place of rest a few days prior to the funeral and cared for in our high-quality mortuary facilities
- A Simplicity representative will contact you to help complete the necessary forms and paperwork to allow the cremation to go-ahead
- Once we have received the relevant paperwork, we will be in touch to arrange the time, date and location of the cremation and your arrangements for the service.
- You will be able to plan a family-led ceremony with music, readings and eulogies as you would with a traditional funeral. You may also like to engage with the services of a minister or officiant in your area to lead the service.
- Your loved one will be taken directly to the crematorium on the day of the cremation in a specialised funeral vehicle and will be resting in the chapel prior to your arrival
- You will be welcomed inside by a crematorium assistant and have around 30 minutes in the crematorium chapel, plus time to enter and exit
- We will contact you to arrange for the delivery of ashes to you

Our arrangers will assist you with organising the running order of the day, from music to any readings or eulogies to the closing of the ceremony. They can also provide advice on finding a minister or celebrant in your area.

What our customers say
Our customer experience is very important to us and we strive to deliver a high quality service every time.
I would have given 5 stars, my only complaint would be the waiting time to get through on the phone in the first instance. The staff I spoke to were very professional and understanding, and I was kept informed throughout the process.
I would recommend their service very highly, and we have now had to use their services again due to a further family death.
