Family-Led Funeral: Simple Funerals from £1,895

A simple funeral arranged by the family for someone who has recently passed away. Our Family-Led Funeral includes cremation fees, doctor's fees, return of ashes, care of your loved one and transportation to the crematorium on the day of the funeral.

WHAT IS A FAMILY-LED FUNERAL?

A simple funeral with family-led service

A Family Led Funeral closely resembles what people may expect from a traditional funeral, but without the often unwanted and unnecessary ceremonial excess or need for a traditional Funeral Director.

A Family Led Funeral is organised over the phone by our funeral arrangers who will be on hand to help you make the necessary arrangements, from the music you'd like to suggesting a local minister or officiant. This offers you the freedom to plan a ceremony in the crematorium chapel in the same way you would with a traditional funeral - just without the face-to-face services of a Funeral Director.

With the ceremony organised carefully by you, we'll focus on the practical elements of the cremation including the collection and care of your loved one and their transportation to the crematorium on the day of the funeral. We simply remove the need for a procession with hearses and limousines prior to the service. Your loved one will be resting in the chapel prior to your arrival so you can focus on leading a fitting ceremony and saying goodbye in the way you best feel commemorates their life.

Here's how a Family Led Funeral works:

- Your loved one will be collected from their place of rest a few days prior to the funeral and cared for in our high-quality mortuary facilities
- A Simplicity representative will contact you to help complete the necessary forms and paperwork to allow the cremation to go-ahead
- Once we have received the relevant paperwork, we will be in touch to arrange the time, date and location of the cremation and your arrangements for the service.
- You will be able to plan a family-led ceremony with music, readings and eulogies as you would with a traditional funeral. You may also like to engage with the services of a minister or officiant in your area to lead the service.
- Your loved one will be taken directly to the crematorium on the day of the cremation in a specialised funeral vehicle and will be resting in the chapel prior to your arrival
- You will be welcomed inside by a crematorium assistant and have around 30 minutes in the crematorium chapel, plus time to enter and exit
- We will contact you to arrange for the delivery of ashes to you

FAMILY LED FUNERAL

Frequently asked questions

Arranging a Family Led Funeral is a simple, straightforward process. Here we've answered some of the most frequently asked questions.

Can I choose the time and day of the service?

Our team will also assist you with arranging a date and time that is convenient for you and your family as part of the arrangement process. You will be able to choose an available time and date on a working weekday (Monday to Friday) excluding weekends and bank holidays. The cremation will take place a CMG crematorium local to the place of rest.

When and how do I pay?

Full payment must be made over the phone by debit or credit card prior to us undertaking any services.

In which areas is an Attended Funeral available?

An Attended Funeral is available throughout the whole of mainland Great Britain including Scotland (this excludes Northern Ireland, Scottish Isles, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands).

Will there be a funeral procession?

No, due to the direct nature of this kind of funeral, there won’t be a traditional funeral procession before the service. Upon your arrival at the crematorium, your loved one’s coffin will be resting on the catafalque in the chapel.

I’m planning a funeral service for my loved one’s Attended Funeral, how long should I plan for in the crematorium?

You should allow for around 30 minutes in the crematorium’s chapel. This will allow for ample time for attendees to calmly enter and exit.

PREPAID FUNERAL PLANS

Are you looking to plan ahead for your own funeral?

Ensure your funeral is paid for and your wishes are known with a prepaid funeral plan. We offer three simple funeral plans for those looking to make arrangements ahead of time.
