Choosing the right funeral plan provider
It’s important to do your research before investing in a funeral plan.
There are lots of options when it comes to prepaid funeral plans with varying levels of cover. It may take time to do your research but it’s worth it to find a plan that suits you. It’s always advisable to opt for a plan with an established funeral plan provider.
Some questions to consider when looking for the best funeral plan providers:
How does the funeral plan provider invest the money?
Ideally, you should choose a provider that is registered with the Funeral Planning Authority (FPA), the organisation set up to regulate prepaid funeral plan providers in the industry to ensure companies are operating in a way that will ensure customers are getting the funeral they have paid for.
All FPA providers will either invest the money you’ve paid for the plan into a Trust Fund or into a 'whole of life' insurance policy. This means that if anything happens to the funeral plan provider, or they go out of business, the money you paid for the plan will be kept safe.
It’s not advisable to choose a plan with an unregistered provider. If you do, you should make sure you understand how your money is safeguarded.
At Simplicity Cremations we invest our Planholder’s money into the independent National Funeral Trust which allows us to guarantee that no matter what happens, there will always be sufficient funds to honour our agreement with our Planholders.
What services are covered in the funeral plan?
The services covered in a funeral plan will differ between providers, with some prepaid funeral plan companies only including a contribution towards the cost of services. It’s important to check the breakdown of exactly what is covered when considering which funeral plan provider to go with, so your family are not left with a surprise bill when the time comes.
A Simplicity Cremations Prepaid Funeral Plan covers all of the essential elements to carry out a simple funeral, including cremation fees, a simple coffin, care at our mortuary, transportation in one of our own specialised vehicles and return of ashes in a simple container.
No matter how much the price of funerals may rise in the future, your loved ones will have nothing more to pay for the guaranteed services outlined in your Simplicity plan.
Does the plan allow you to personalise your funeral?
At Simplicity, we’re changing the way funerals are arranged, giving you greater choice and flexibility in how your loved ones remember your life. We don’t want to take away the sentiment and remembrance that comes with a traditional funeral, but we do believe there is an alternative way.
This is something that not all funeral providers will accommodate.

What would happen if your details changed or you moved house?
You should update your details with your provider as soon as possible. Depending on the provider and your circumstances, additional charges may apply as some funeral plan providers only offer their services locally. For this reason, it is advisable to go with an established nationwide company.
As a nationwide funeral provider, your Simplicity Cremations funeral plan will not be affected if you move to another address within mainland Great Britain. Give us a call to notify us of your change of address and we will update our system accordingly.
What are your payment options?
Choose a funeral plan provider with clear payment terms and a payment plan that will suit you.
You can pay for a Simplicity Cremations Prepaid Funeral Plan in a single payment, 12 monthly instalments at no extra cost or select a payment plan from as little as £16.51 per month.
