Choosing the right funeral plan provider
It’s important to do your research before investing in a funeral plan.
There’s lots of options when it comes to funeral plans with varying levels of cover. It may take time to do your research but it’s worth it to find a plan that suits you. It’s always advisable to opt for a plan with an established provider.
How does the provider invest the money?
Ideally you should choose a provider that is registered with the Funeral Planning Authority (FPA), the organisation set up to regulate providers in the prepaid funeral planning industry to ensure companies are operating in a way that will ensure customers are getting the funeral they have paid for.
All FPA providers will either invest the money you’ve paid for the plan into a Trust Fund or into a whole of life insurance policy. This means that if anything goes wrong with the provider, or they go out of business, the money paid for the plan will be kept safe.
At Simplicity Cremations we invest our Planholder’s money into the independent National Funeral Trust which allows us to guarantee that no matter what happens, there will always be sufficient money within the trust fund to honour our agreement with our Planholders.
It’s not advisable to choose a plan with an unregistered provider. If you do, you should ensure you understand how your money is safeguarded.
What services are covered in the funeral plan?
The services covered in a funeral plan will differ between providers, with some providers only including a contribution towards the cost of services. It’s important to check the breakdown of what is covered when considering which provider to go with, so your family are not left with a surprise bill when the time comes.
A Simplicity Cremations Prepaid Funeral Plan covers all of the essential elements to carry out a simple funeral, including cremation fees, a simple coffin, care at our mortuary, transportation in a specialised vehicle and return of ashes in a simple container.
No matter how much the price of funerals rise in future, your loved ones will have nothing more to pay for the guaranteed services outlined in your plan.
Does the plan allow you to personalise your funeral?
At Simplicity, we’re changing the way funerals are arranged. Giving you greater choice and flexibility in how your loved ones remember your life. We don’t want to take away the sentiment and remembrance that comes with a traditional funeral, but we do believe there is an alternative way.
This is something that not all funeral providers will accommodate.
What would happen if you moved house?
As a nationwide funeral provider, your plan will not be affected if you move to another address within mainland Great Britain. Give us a call to notify us of your change of address and we will update our system accordingly.
Some providers only offer their services locally, so it is advisable to go with an established nationwide company.
What are your payment options?
Choose a provider with clear payment terms and a payment plan that will suit you.
You can pay for a Simplicity Cremations Prepaid Funeral Plan in a single payment, 12 monthly instalments at no extra cost or select a payment plan from as little as £16.51 per month. As with most providers, we include an instalment charge when the plan is paid over any duration longer than 12 months.
