Small funerals explained

New funeral trends show that people are increasingly choosing small funerals, with simple and dignified services. Instead of masses of people coming to a funeral service - with all the fanfare and noise of a traditional funeral, a small funeral offers the option to have only a few close family and friends in attendance. As well as this, a small funeral is a less costly way to say goodbye, leaving those grieving without the worry of hidden or surprise extra costs.

If you are looking for a small funeral service to say goodbye to your loved one, a Simplicity Intimate Funeral could be the right option for you.

Can I have just a small funeral?

In short, yes. Small funerals are a perfect way to say goodbye to a loved one who didn't want a fuss. Simplicity offers Intimate Funerals with a private cremation for up to 12 people to attend. Alternatively, if you know that you'd like a small funeral yourself when the time comes, you can plan ahead for this too with the Magnolia Plan. Browse our prepaid funeral plans for more information.

Why have a private funeral?

Having a small funeral may mean that saying goodbye to a loved one feels more private. A private funeral can often help with the grieving process, as it allows for time to reflect and remember.

What does a small funeral from Simplicity involve?

Our Intimate Funeral offers a small number of friends and family a short time inside the chapel at one of our preferred crematoria. The attendees will be welcomed into the chapel and given a short time to say a few words or reflect as they wish.

A small funeral can be arranged with the minimum of fuss, it includes all of the practicalities including the provision of a simple coffin, doctor’s fees for medical papers, collection from hospital and transportation to the crematorium in a specialised funeral vehicle.

This type of funeral does not involve any formal ceremony or service; giving family the freedom to organise any other proceedings such as the presence of a minister or floral tributes if they so wish. We will put you in contact with a fully qualified chapel attendant so you can make the necessary arrangements prior to the cremation.

We know organising a funeral is something most people will be unfamiliar with, so with Simplicity, all it takes is one phone call to start the process. Our telephone lines are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year., so there's always someone there to answer any questions you may have.

Simplicity Cremations will ensure your loved one is treated with the care and respect they deserve, and we’ll be here to support those left behind with access to a free telephone bereavement advice and support service. Unlike other small funeral providers, we're transparent about pricing, so we won't surprise you with any hidden charges. To talk to one of our advisors today, contact us
